Question 1AIf the Colorado Single Payer Health Services Plan is introduced in the next session of the Legislature, would you support it?
Answer 1A:
Comment 1A:Maybe. I think that single payer is an excellent idea and I know that it has worked in other countries. I believe that we should move towards a single payer goal, but I do not see that happening in the short term. I would very much support incremental steps toward the single payer system. I believe that a lot of hearts and minds need to be won over still. With the increased attention towards health care I think that once the population becomes more educated about single payer that there will be a change. I would support legislation that supports a movement toward single payer. As they say, the devil is in the details. I would not want to support a bill that does not fulfill the goal.

Question 1BWould you support other legislation that works toward development of a comprehensive single-payer health services plan in Colorado that would replace reliance on the commercial health insurance industry??
Answer 1B:
Comment 1B:Maybe. I would support partnerships with health insurance providers, working towards the goal of having patients and doctors decide on the best course for the patient.

Question 2:Do you believe the state of Colorado has an obligation to provide relief to its citizens in areas such as health care when the Federal Government is unable or unwilling to do so?
Answer 2:Yes
Comment 2:I believe that it is a crime that all children do not have adequate and accessible health care. We need to make sure that as a state we invest in our future, our children. I also understand that we need to make sure that we are implementing healthcare coverage that does not overlap with Federal assistance. When we speak of the state providing relief, we know that it is our citizens who must help carry that burden. I must be able to go to the people of Colorado and tell what the crux of the issue is and why we must fund it (in terms of healthcare).

Question 3:Would you support a resolution calling for our Colorado Congressional delegation to support legislation that encourages states to serve as laboratories for the nation by developing new and creative plans for health care?
Answer 3:
Comment 3:Maybe, because I think that some things can be done better in a micro setting, but I believe if we are to get to a single payer system our Colorado Congressional delegation should be working towards a Federal health care program.

Question 4:I will advocate for single-payer health care reform when I address issues such as:
