During the Colorado Legislative cycle, Health Care for All Colorado reviews health-related bills of interest and presents our viewpoint to our members and others that have expressed an interest in receiving this information.
While our mission remains focused on attaining a publicly-financed universal health care system in Colorado, we recognize that we cannot solely focus on one piece of model legislation. Some bills before the Colorado Legislature may improve or harm our ability to achieve our goal. Other bills may not impact our mission directly, but may improve or harm access, quality, or cost in our existing system. For the benefit of Colorado citizens and our supporters, we will weigh in on pending legislation as we feel is appropriate.
2013 Legislative Session
The legislative session began on January 9, 2013. Stay tuned to this page for future updates.
Potential Legislation (pre-bill)
HCAC has had the opportunity to review and comment on a piece of model legislation intending to be introduced by Sen. Irene Aguilar -- the Colorado Health Care Cooperative. We look forward to having our issues address prior to the bill being introduced, and will publish our official position once the bill is introduced and we have had time to review it.
As more information becomes available, we will provide that here.
Currently, our organization's assessment of the preliminary bill can be found in these documents:
- Current HCAC status on review of CHCC draft bill (1/9/2013)
- HCAC/Single Payer Task Force letter to Co-operate Colorado on CHCC draft bill (1/6/2013)
- HCAC/Single Payer Task Force analysis of CHCC draft bill (1/1/2013)
