Medicare Flash Mob - Denver
Let's Dance and Celebrate! Thursday, July 30th marks the 50th Anniversary of Medicare, and we think it's a pretty great program (as American as Apple Pie) that we should Protect, Improve, and Expand to everyone.
Join Health Care for All Colorado and other supporters in a multi-city Flash Mob as part of a growing list of events across the country celebrating the Golden Anniversary of Medicare!
HCAC is coordinating flash mobs in Denver, Fort Collins, and Pueblo on Thursday, July 30th. Live in another city and want to lead one in your town? Let us know and we'll help you organize it!
What is a flash mob? A chance to spend a fun few minutes with like-minded people, performing a short choreographed dance in a public place to bring attention to the benefits of Medicare for All to the unsuspecting people in the area. We need a lot of people in each location to be able to produce a high quality video for YouTube!
DENVER TIME/LOCATION:
Thursday, July 30, 2015
6:00pm meet up, begin flashmobbing by 6:30 pm
STAGING LOCATION: We will begin the Flash Mob in Writers Square on the 16th Street Mall in downtown Denver. We will meet and coordinate on the corner of 15th and Larimer (STAGING LOCATION) before moving through to the other corner, 16th and Lawrence (PERFORMANCE LOCATION).
SIGNS: Please don't forget your signs! If you've made extras, bring those too! There will probably be some flashmobbers that don't have any.
VIDEO: If you have the ability to shoot decent video, PLEASE plan on doing so. We will take all footage that is recorded and create a really nice compilation video. Even better, if you have a friend that can shoot video and isn't dancing, bring them along to help you!!! In addition to wide shots, we also need some people to work on close-ups of dancers and their signs as well as some extreme close-ups of signs, dancing feet, singing/smiling faces, etc.
PARKING: The easiest place to park (if you are not taking public transportation downtown) is the Writers Square parking deck. The entrance is on the left side of Lawrence when driving from 15th St to 16th St. There is an elevator to street level if you need it, but the stairs in the far corner of the deck will take you right up to the STAGING LOCATION.
After performing in Writers Square, we will move up the 16th Street Mall to quickly do it all over again a couple more times in locations like the Pavilions and Civic Center Park. Exact locations will be communicated during STAGING at 6PM at 15th and Larimer.
If you have any last-minute questions or concerns, please contact Donna Smith (contact info below).
Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you there!!!

Medicare Flash Mob FAQ:
Q: This sounds awesome! What do I need to do?
A: Simply RSVP right here, so we can let you know of any last minute changes or logistics, then watch the video below to learn the simple dance moves (like a super cool line dance)!
Q: What do I need to bring?
A: Bring yourself and, if you can, a creative sign that encourages people to consider Medicare for All. Click here for some examples of signs you can make. The more creative, the better!
Q: I can't dance at all -- I actually have two left feet -- but would still love to help. What can I do?
A: We need a handful of people at each location to record the event on video so we can compile them into a statewide video! Cell phone video is fine, but bring a digital video camera if you have one!
Q: I have a conflict and can't make it. What else can I do?
A: Feel free to make a $50 Donation to HCAC in honor of the 50th Anniversary of Medicare at this link!
Q: Can I do both -- donate $50 and attend the Flash Mob?
A: Absolutely! Just remember to use the donate link to donate and the registration link to RSVP!
Q: How do I learn the dance that everyone is going to be doing?
A: Click the video below. We will be dancing to a song called "Medicare for All" (only 3 minutes long) and waving our signs around for everyone to see!
LEARN WITH THIS VIDEO AS IF YOU ARE LOOKING IN A MIRROR.
Also, please share with as many of your friends as you can! The more people we have, the more awesome it will be!
