Committee for Health Care on Main Street Schedules Free Evening Forum
Program will cover impact of new federal law on consumers

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, COLO. (August 11, 2010) – The Committee for Health Care on Main Street announces today that it would hold a free forum on Monday, August 16, 2010, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the Glenwood Springs Community Center. The forum is open to the public. Refreshments also will be served.

Jack Real, committee chairman, states, “We want to make sure that our fellow residents of the Roaring Fork and Colorado River valleys understand how health care reform will impact them, including new insurance regulations and consumer protections that are going to be available to them, both immediately and in the future, under this law.”

The forum will focus on the impacts of the new health care reform law on the average American. The Committee for Health Care on Main Street is dedicated to exploring and disseminating to the public information regarding the recent health care reform bill, The Affordable Care Act, which became law on March 23, 2010.

Experts in health care policy and legal issues will discuss critical points of the new federal legislation and how the law will impact future health insurance premiums, health care delivery, health care costs and more. Presenters include Denver-based Irene Aguilar, MD, Health Care for All Colorado, and Lorez Meinhold, director of health reform implementation for Colorado and senior policy analyst in the Office of Governor Bill Ritter, Jr. The Roaring Fork Valley’s Linda Shaw, psychiatric nurse practitioner and medical provider for Colorado West Regional Mental Health Center, and Chris Tonozzi, MD, family practitioner with Mountain Family Health Center, will present local perspectives.

For more information, contact Jack Real, (970) 947-9194, or Nancy Smith, (970) 963-2339.
