August HCAC Zoom Webinar / Q&A, with special guest Wendell Potter

Why do we have employer sponsored insurance anyway?

How is COVID-19 impacting uninsurance rates?

Do businesses really support keeping the current system in place?

Is it true that insurers are reporting record profits during the pandemic while millions of Americans have lost coverage?

Would Medicare for All be cheaper for businesses?

What are we going to do about it?!?!?

Health Care for All Colorado is pleased to present Wendell Potter, Health Insurance Industry Whistleblower and author of "Deadly Spin: An Insurance Company Insider Speaks Out on How Corporate PR Is Killing Health Care and Deceiving Americans."

Wendell has recently been speaking out about why America's Health Care "System" is to blame for our poor response to COVID-19 and how our predominantly employer-sponsored health insurance system is utterly failing to meet the needs of Americans. Join us to hear from Wendell on the state of the US Health Care system, the impacts of the pandemic, how it is affecting employers and insurance coverage, and find out what Wendell has been working on lately to promote single payer health care!

Also joining us to talk about his efforts will be Greg Smith, a former business financial executive and presently a consultant to large retail chains. As a past Chief Financial Officer for corporations, it was his responsibility to obtain health coverage for employees. Greg writes,

"Health insurance costs for employees go up every year in excess of inflation, while benefits decrease.  When I asked why, the answers convinced me that the health care market is systemically broken; the term of art is 'market failure.' Married to a critical care nurse, I hear a steady stream of tragic stories due to no or inadequate health insurance. The nation cries out for change and Medicare for All holds the most promise."
