Former Presidential Candidate Stumps for ColoradoCare as Ballots Drop
DENVER -- The ColoradoCareYES campaign is thrilled to announce one of the most anticipated events of the season in the run-up to Election Day. Senator Bernie Sanders will host a rally in support of ColoradoCare, Amendment 69 on the November ballot, this Monday, October 17th in Boulder. The former presidential candidate has aggressively supported Amendment 69, and his Colorado appearance should give a powerful boost to ColoradoCare's profile as voters begin marking their ballots.

"There is an important ballot initiative in Colorado which calls for a [Medicare-for-all] health care system," Sanders said. "It is absurd, it is beyond belief, that here in America we remain the only major country on earth not to guarantee health care to all people. If that proposal can win in Colorado, I believe that idea will spread around the country."
Sanders has encouraged the effort to bring a "Medicare-for-all" health care system to Colorado since even before it made the ballot. He has spoken about it on multiple occasions, before and after winning the Colorado caucus by 19 points. Sanders' appearance adds momentum to a growing grassroots campaign that has attracted support in every corner of Colorado while gaining national and international attention. It is, arguably, the most talked about issue on the ballot in Colorado this year, and it echoes a central Medicare-for-all plank in the Bernie Sanders presidential campaign platform.
"This is the event Sanders supporters and ColoradoCare supporters have been waiting for," said Owen Perkins, Director of Communications for ColoradoCareYES. "No one has done more to elevate the idea of Medicare for all in the United States in recent years, and by bringing the notion of universal health care into stadiums, auditoriums, town halls, and living rooms throughout the country, Senator Sanders has helped create the ideal environment for passing ColoradoCare. He mobilized hundreds of thousands of Coloradans to become politically active, and we can't wait to have Bernie back in Boulder to make history together by enacting a central plank in his presidential platform and a founding feature in the ongoing revolution he has inspired."
ColoradoCare will save the average Coloradan thousands of dollars, and a collective $4.5 billion in savings in health care costs each year. ColoradoCare will provide comprehensive health care to every Coloradan, picking up hundreds of thousands of residents who are currently uninsured. Funding for the program will primarily come through a 3.33% payroll deduction for employees and 6.67% for employers, eliminating the need for premiums and deductibles.
