The “Groundhog Day” of Health Care Reform - Saturday, 2/2/19
In 1993, the movie Groundhog Day was released, starring Bill Murray as a weatherman that keeps waking up only to re-live the same day over and over again, trying to figure out a solution to move forward. In watching, it feels a little too much like real life, considering how many decades we’ve been trying to solve the health care dilemma in the United States by doing many of the same things over and over again. (Coincidentally, 1993 was also when the Clinton Health Care Plan was proposed. That was over 25 years ago.)
What do we do to finally break the cycle? How do we wake up from this repeating daily nightmare? Groundhog Day was a feel-good comedy, but the current state of US health care resembles more tragedy or horror.
Join us this Groundhog Day, February 2nd, at the HCAC Denver Chapter meeting with our special guest and newly-elected Colorado Representative, Emily Sirota.
Emily will give us an update of the bills she plans to carry, and hopefully some inspiration that we may see some positive change soon. What might be possible, now that the House, Senate, and Governor’s Office are controlled by Dems? We expect the legislature to take up a lot of long overdue bills related to improving Colorado health care and coverage. How do we push them to fulfill the public’s demands? What is the future of single payer in Colorado and the US?
HCAC Board Member Judy Burke will provide us with the latest information on the Legislative Session and all Health Care Bills.
Refreshments will be provided.
We hope you will join us! Bring a friend, family member, or neighbor. Everyone is affected, so everyone is welcome.
