My husband and I are currently on Medicare. We pay for part B, a supplemental plan, and Rx plan. Will our extra plans be covered by the new CO Care plan and is there a limit to income levels in order to qualify for this coverage?

The Affordable Care Act of 2010 banned sex discrimination in health care settings that have a connection to federal funds. Will transgender related care be covered under Colorado Care, including Sex Reassignment Surgery? Will providers have to reside instate?

Will retired military be exempt from this tax? Part of the military retiree benefits is access to health care at reduced prices. And some disabled vets actually are given free medical. If there is no exemption for retired military then this would basically void this out. Plus, I have to wonder if it might even exclude some retirees from getting some of those benefits back if they ever left the state. If that is the case then many of these retirees would be forced to either give up those benefits for life or continue to pay for them AND this ColoradoCare.

Seems like everyone has questions about retirement income taxes. I don’t see any answers posted. Why not? You’re missing a good PR opportunity. Unless you don’t have good answers.

Income includes 1 pera pension and a lifetime of hard earned ira’s that haven’t been taxed by the Feds and in no way make 10% a year. Feels a bit altruistic to me having given my life to a community health center as a NP.

Do I understand correctly that, as a senior living on a pension and Social Security I will have to pay 10% of my income (less the State exemption for those over 65) in taxes to fund Colorado Cares and still have to pay my Medicare premiums?

I am a Federal retiree, and I have Medicare A and B as well as Blue Cross. I am very happy with my health insurance. It is excellent. The Federal Government has been administering these plans for decades, and they do an excellent job. They know what they are doing. I don’t think you can take away Medicare, but what about my Blue Cross plan that I was allowed to carry into retirement. I worked hard for that benefit for 25 years, and I will fight to keep it.

If our employer provides us with insurance, does Coloradocare act as a secondary insurance? How does that work ?

There are a lot of current and retired federal employees (including military) in Colorado. I see from the questions below that I am not the first to ask about the impact of this proposal on us. But I do not see any answer. What is your response to this concern? Is it published anywhere? It certainly should be, as there are a lot of us who are concerned about the impact of this program on us. Thank you.

I have another question about colorado care. I am a retired federal employee. I am satisfied with my medical insurance under the federal government. The problem is that as a retiree, if I cancel the insurance, I am no longer eligible to get it. However, if I retain the federal govt employee insurance, I have to pay into both colorado care and my current insurance. How will this be handled?

I am retired military. I have Medicare for which I pay Monthly premium of $230 a month for my wife and me. I also have Tricare for Life as my supplement which I earned through my Military service. Why should I pay additionally for ColoradoCare, a service that I will not benefit from?

Please provide detailed information about how one opts out of ColoradoCare, because I already am covered by satisfactory health insurance and see no reason why my tax burden should be more than tripled for no reason. Under the Affordable Health Care Act, I am not required to sign up for coverage because I already have it. All of my income is non-payroll, because I am retired. There should be a cap on the amount of non-payroll income subject to the tax that results in one paying no more than $1050, which is the effective transition cap of 0.3% of $350,000.

Will coloradocare pay for long term care, like assisted living, memory care, home care? Or will people still have financial ruin because they have to pay for that?

The Colorado exemption for pensions, annuities, etc. applies to the first $20,000.

Federal taxable income is used to calculate Colorado taxes owed. Is the same true for Coloradocare? My taxable income used to calculate Colorado taxes owed less the $20,000 exemption should determine the Colorado income used to calculate what is paid for Coloradocare? Example $32,000 total income less standard deductions and exemptions(Federal) of $20,000 = $12,000. Is it then true my amount owed on Coloradocare would be $0.00, since the $20,000 pension exemption would reduce my effective income to 0.00. Please respond.

My employer is based out of Illinois, but I’m a resident of Colorado and I work remotely. Would my employer be subject to the payroll tax increase? Or would I have to pay the entire 10%?
